Nintendo has announced their latest Nintendo Direct, but this one is on a very specific topic and will have a brief runtime.

Nintendo has announced that a Super Nintendo World Direct is airing today, Nov. 11th, 2024 at 5 PM ET. The Direct will run for just 10 minutes and it will show off the Donkey Kong Country addition to Super Nintendo World in Japan.

Nintendo also went the extra step to make sure that viewers aren’t expecting anything else from the presentation, as they confirmed that no game-related announcements will be made. All you’ll be getting here in theme park news, so manage your expectations appropriately!

Nintendo also revealed that a Donkey Kong Power-Up Band is on the way as well, which can be used to activate all kinds of hidden features and secrets in the park. If you have one of the Mario-themed Power Up Bands, those will also work in the Donkey Kong Country section of the park.

How fun! I wonder when I'll be able to make it to one of these theme parks. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

How absurdly charming is all this? Big fan. It’s ironic that Miyamoto famously pushed back against Rare’s direction with DKC (graphically especially) but it has permanently altered the trajectory of the classic character to the point where the man himself is giving us a walkthrough of a theme park inspired almost entirely by Retro’s (and by the transitive property also Rare’s) games.

Just doesn't feel like DKC to me. No Kremlings, no Pirate ships, just one animal buddy and it's based on a game that came out after 2010.
