RUMOR: Insider details launch allotment for Switch successor
Will Nintendo stave off shortages?
Nintendo hardware almost always sells like hotcakes out of the gate. The Wii was a runaway hit and was hard to find for literally years after launch, and the Switch suffered from very similar supply issues. Hell, even the Wii U was flying off the shelves at launch. Case in point, Nintendo diehards are always eager to get their hands on Nintendo’s latest gaming goodness.
While Nintendo hasn’t said much at all about the Switch successor, insiders have been scrounging up all the details they can. One of those insiders is Ninspider, who’s been dropping various teases and tidbits over the last few months. Now they’re back with some supposed info on launch quantities for the Switch successor.
Their coded message on the matter indicates that Nintendo’s plans for the Switch successor in terms of units available at launch will be “roughly 2.5 times the volume from March 2017.” If you look back at Switch sales figures from that time, it would mean that we can expect somewhere around 7 million Switch successor units to be available worldwide at launch.
To put things into further perspective, the original Switch took 282 days to sell 10 million units. Having 7 million units of the Switch successor available at launch does seem like it would do well to keep the system on shelves while Nintendo has time to manufacture more.

13d agoHaving 2.5x as much stock as the original Switch would definitely be a great start.
Comparatively, PS5 sold ~3.5million in its first 4 weeks. Albeit still with some stock issues.
So twice as much as the PS5 should make it a lot more available.
WIP and raw supplies to their Vietnamese warehouse already suggests about ~2.5 amount being produced, so this seems more than likely accurate
