Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake becomes Japan's best-selling game of 2024 in just one week
I guess Dragon Quest is a little popular in Japan
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake has been out for a week now, and that’s been long enough for the game to set a sales record in Japan.
We shared the weekly sales data from Japan earlier today, and it showed the Switch version of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake moved 641,195 units, and the PS5 version added another 180,575 copies to that total. That puts the first week of physical sales for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake at 821,770.
That 821k launch was big enough to land Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake the honor of best-selling game in Japan for all of 2024. The thing is, there’s no doubt the actual sales figure for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake in Japan is higher. The figure we have doesn’t include Xbox Series X/S sales, nor does if factor in digital data as well. In other words, there’s no doubt the title has moved well over a million units in Japan alone so far.
